Six Nigerian Students Win Top Cambridge Awards
Six Nigerian students from three secondary schools have been awarded the Top in the World Outstanding Cambridge Learners Awards for their performance in the June and November 2023 Cambridge exams. The awards, announced by Mrs. Lucy Pearson, Country Director of the Nigeria British Council, recognize students who achieved the highest global marks in English as a second language. The winners include students from Brookstone School, James Hope College in Lagos, and The Ambassadors Group of Schools. Additionally, 95 students from 37 partner schools in Nigeria achieved the highest marks in various subjects, and 71 students received Top in Nigeria awards. These accomplishments highlight the dedication and hard work of the students, their teachers, and parents, and open opportunities for higher education and careers.
British Council Announcement
Mrs. Lucy Pearson, the Country Director of Nigeria British Council, shared this news during the British Council Recognition and Outstanding Cambridge Learners Awards event in Lagos. The British Council and Cambridge International Examinations celebrate outstanding achievements of students from partner schools across Nigeria.Pearson revealed that these awards were given to students who scored the highest marks globally in English as a second language. Two students excelled in the June 2023 exams, while four more stood out in the November 2023 exams.
Winning Schools and Students
The six students are from Brookstone School, James Hope College in Lagos, and The Ambassadors Group of Schools. Here are the winners; June ,2023; Oluwademilade David (Brookstone School) and Omaghomi Sharon (Brookstone School). In November 2023, have :Obodoechi Chiedozie (James Hope College), Favour Chinecherem (James Hope College), Fehintoluwa Erinayo (James Hope College) ,Bamidele Sharon (Ambassadors Group of Schools).Pearson also noted that 95 students from 37 British Council partner schools in Nigeria achieved the highest marks in various subjects such as Sociology, ICT, and Business Studies. Additionally, 71 students received Top in Nigeria awards for individual subjects. Further awards included 48 High Achievement Awards and eight Best Across Awards, recognizing students with the highest cumulative marks across multiple subjects.
