Controversial Death and Autopsy Issues
Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, under unclear circumstances. In an attempt to uncover the cause of his death, his body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy. However, by May 2024, the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital revealed that the autopsy was inconclusive due to the advanced decomposition of the body. This result was met with dissatisfaction from Mohbad’s family and fans, who demanded another autopsy. A second autopsy and toxicology test is reportedly being conducted in a European laboratory, but no results have been made public yet.
Paternity Doubts and Family Tensions
Shortly after Mohbad’s death, his father, Joseph Aloba, expressed doubts about the paternity of Mohbad’s son, Liam. He raised concerns about frequent arguments between Mohbad and his wife, Wunmi, and noted physical traits in Liam that did not resemble the Aloba family. Joseph requested a DNA test, but Wunmi refused without a court order. In July 2024, a court encouraged both sides to settle the matter privately, but negotiations failed.
Despite a year of investigations and legal battles, the true circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s tragic death remain shrouded in mystery, leaving his loved ones and fans desperate for justice and closure.
Investigations Face Setbacks
The police have carried out multiple investigations into Mohbad’s death, but progress has been slow. A special investigation team was formed, and a coroner’s inquest was launched. Mohbad’s former record label boss, Naira Marley, and his associate, Sam Larry, were arrested and charged for allegedly bullying and assaulting the singer. Although they were granted bail, they failed to attend court hearings alongside other key witnesses. The court may issue subpoenas to compel their appearance. The investigation remains open, leaving fans and family still seeking justice for Mohbad.
