Nigerian Doctor Sets World Record with Largest Painting, Celebrated by Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu

President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu have congratulated Nigerian doctor and artist Dr. Fola David for setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest painting by an individual. This significant accomplishment took place over six days at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos, where David surpassed the previous record of 629.98 square meters (about twice the area of a tennis court), set by India’s Ravi Soni, with a new record of 1,000 square meters (about twice the area of a basketball court).  

Presidential and Governor’s Commendation 

In a heartfelt Instagram post on Sunday, President Tinubu praised David’s achievement. He wrote, “Congratulations to Dr. Fola David for completing his attempt at making the world’s largest hand-drawing by an individual, ‘Unity in Diversity.’ It is a remarkable achievement, and we are filled with great pride and admiration for this accomplishment. Governor Sanwo-Olu also expressed his admiration for David’s record-breaking feat. On Monday, he posted on X.com, highlighting David’s contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic at the Onikan Isolation Centre and now his record-setting achievement at the same venue. Sanwo-Olu wrote, “From the challenging days of the pandemic where he was a #COVID19Hero at our Onikan Isolation Centre to breaking world records at our Onikan Stadium (Mobolaji Johnson Arena), Dr. Fola David has been a beacon of excellence and service. Congratulations on creating the world’s largest handdrawing by an individual, ‘Unity in Diversity.’ Lagos is proud!”
