NELFUND Onboards 12 More Institutions for Student Loan Program
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) announced that 12 additional state government-owned tertiary institutions have been onboarded to the student loan application pool, increasing the total number from 36 to 48. Data from 121 institutions is still outstanding. NELFUND urged these institutions to submit their students’ data promptly to enable them to benefit from the loan scheme. Institutions with successfully uploaded data were also encouraged to inform their students about the loan application process to provide financial relief and ensure a steady revenue stream for the institutions.
Increased Participation
Nasir Ayitogo, Head of Media and Public Relations for NELFUND, stated that with this new addition, the total number of state government-owned tertiary institutions participating in the program has risen from 36 to 48. However, data from 121 institutions is still pending submission. The Fund urged all remaining institutions to submit their students’ data to the Student Verification portal as soon as possible. This will allow their students to benefit from the loan scheme.
Urgent Student Sensitization
NELFUND also called on institutions whose data has been captured and successfully uploaded to promptly inform their students about the loan application process. This initiative aims to support financially struggling students and ensure a steady revenue stream for the institutions. By Increasing the number of participating institutions and encouraging timely data submission, NELFUND hopes to provide financial relief to more students across Nigeria.
