Today we celebrate the true heroes who fought for Nigeria’s independence and democracy: Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello, Fela Anikulapo, Herbert Macaulay, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, Bola Tinubu, Anthony Enahoro, Tafawa Balewa, M.K.O Abiola, Gani Fawehinmi, Wole Soyinka, Ken Saro-Wiwa, Fela Kuti, Yakubu Gowon, Olusegun Obasanjo, Chinua Achebe, Bola Ige, Margaret Ekpo, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Aminu Kano, and Alhaji Lateef Jakande and many others.
These heroes fought for justice, freedom, and a better Nigeria. Their work laid the foundation for our democracy and is still influencing Nigeria today. From education to human rights, their efforts continue to inspire and guide us.
