FG Awards N47m to 32 Innovators Across Nigeria

The Federal Government has given N47 million in grants to 32 innovators from all six geopolitical zones of the country. The grants, ranging from N1 million to N5 million per person, were provided through the Presidential Standing Committee on Innovations and Inventions (PSCII) Programme.
Supporting Nigerian Innovators
The Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology announced this in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). The goal of the PSCII programme is to support Nigerians, particularly those in the informal sector, who have promising technological ideas that can positively impact the country’s economy and society.
Programme Impact Since 2005
Chief Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, explained that since the programme began in 2005, over 600 inventors and innovators across the country have received funding. The PSCII programme is designed to ensure that all assistance given to recipients follows clear guidelines and is a transparent process. Speaking at an event in Abuja, the minister, represented by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Esuabana Nko-Asanye, noted that efforts are being made to increase the programme’s budget. He also mentioned that the ministry is working with key organizations like the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, and others, to lay the groundwork for technological breakthroughs in Nigeria.
