Emzor Commits N1bn to Combat Drug Abuse and Empower Youths

Founder/Group Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, Dr. Stella Okoli

Emzor Pharmaceutical Industries Limited has announced the launch of a ₦1 billion foundation dedicated to addressing the growing challenge of drug abuse in Nigeria. The initiative, unveiled at the company’s 40th Anniversary Dinner in Lagos, aims to provide critical care and rehabilitation for victims of substance abuse. Dr. Stella Okoli, Founder and Group Managing Director of Emzor, expressed deep concern over the impact of drug abuse on Nigerian youths. “The menace of drug abuse is becoming a serious problem for our youths and society. The situation is so bad today that we can no longer fold our arms and watch the future go to waste, she said. To address this, Emzor will launch the Emzor Wellness Foundation Anti-Drug Abuse Fund. This ₦1 billion fund will drive interventions focused on victim care, rehabilitation, and prevention programs across the nation.

Empowering Youths Through Entrepreneurship

Beyond combating drug abuse, Emzor aims to inspire and empower Nigerian youths through the Dr. Stella Okoli Prize for Entrepreneurship. This annual award will recognize pioneering and innovative female entrepreneurs under the age of 40. Dr. Okoli emphasized the importance of inspiring young Nigerians: “While we are making critical interventions towards ensuring a better future for our youths, it is equally important that we give them the motivation and inspiration they need to pursue their dreams and write their own success stories.

Building a Global Healthcare Brand

Reflecting on Emzor’s growth over the past 40 years, Dr. Okoli attributed the company’s success to hard work and divine guidance. From a humble beginning, the pharmaceutical giant now boasts over 200 certified products and plans to expand its operations significantly. As they say, life begins at 40! So, for us at Emzor, we have only just begun,” Okoli stated. The company is set to commission an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) plant and an ultra-modern factory, enhancing its production capacity to meet local demands and export needs across Africa.

Emzor’s dual initiatives to combat drug abuse and empower young entrepreneurs underline its commitment to building a healthier and more prosperous Nigeria. As Dr. Okoli noted, “We see a future of healthcare security for our nation where unlimited wellness is available to all and affordable by all. This initiative highlights a call for collective action to secure the future of Nigeria’s youth and provide a sustainable path to national wellness.
