BUA Foods and ASR Africa Donate N10m, Foodstuffs to Widows 

On June 20, 2024, the Abdul Samad Rabiu Initiative for Africa (ASR Africa) and BUA Foods donated N10 million and foodstuffs to widows in Lagos to mark International Widows’ Day. The donations, distributed at the International Women Society’s (IWS) Widows Feast and Empowerment program, included IRS Pasta, IRS Semolina, and BUA Rice. Ayodele Abioye, Managing Director of BUA Foods, emphasized their commitment to social responsibility and making a positive impact beyond business. Dr. Ubon Udoh, CEO of ASR Africa, highlighted the grant as part of their social development efforts. Distribution at IWS Widows Feast 

The N10 million grant and food items were distributed during the International Women Society’s (IWS) Widows Feast and Empowerment program in Lagos. The foodstuffs included IRS Pasta, IRS Semolina, and BUA Rice, aimed at alleviating the economic hardships faced by widows. Ayodele Abioye, Managing Director of BUA Foods, emphasized the company’s commitment to making a positive impact on society. “Our responsibility extends beyond business. We aim to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need,” he said.

Partnering with IWS ensures the relief reaches the intended beneficiaries effectively. Adeola Adebanke, Chairperson of the Widows’ Trust Fund of IWS, expressed her gratitude for the donation. Beneficiaries also shared their appreciation. Mrs. Khadija Rufai remarked, “This generous donation will significantly alleviate pressure on my household.” Another widow, Mrs. Adebimpe Lanre, added, “The donation is a lifesaver, allowing us to focus on other important needs.”
