Andela and CNCF to Train 20,000 African Tech Experts in Cloud-Native Skills

Andela, a global platform connecting tech talent with job opportunities, has announced a partnership with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) to train 20,000 African tech professionals in cloud-native skills. The training program, launched in collaboration with Linux Foundation Education, is designed to equip participants with vital knowledge and certifications needed for global technology roles.

What Is Cloud-Native?

Cloud-native refers to the tools and practices used to design, build, and manage applications in cloud computing environments. With the rise in demand for cloud-native development, mastering these skills positions tech professionals for exciting opportunities in the global tech industry.

Program Details

The free training will begin next year and run for two to three years. Participants will access foundational courses on cloud-native concepts and prepare for certifications like:

Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA)

    Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)

These globally recognized certifications will validate participants’ expertise in cloud-native technologies, making them competitive in the global tech job market.

Why This Matters

According to Andela’s CEO, Carrol Chang, Africa has one of the fastest-growing populations of software developers. With many companies seeking advanced skills like cloud-native expertise, this program is a step toward bridging the tech talent gap while providing Africans with access to high-paying global opportunities. A 2021 Google report revealed that 38% of African software developers now work remotely for international companies, showing the increasing demand for remote tech talent from the continent.

What Experts Are Saying

Chris Aniszczyk, CTO at CNCF, highlighted the importance of this partnership:

“This initiative ensures developers worldwide can confidently work toward certifications, unlocking opportunities both locally and globally. Partnering with Andela allows us to reach African communities that may otherwise lack access to such training.

Empowering African tech talent with cloud-native skills is more than training—it’s creating a future where local developers compete globally and thrive in the digital economy.

Opportunities for Nigerians

For Nigerian developers, this program provides a pathway to gain globally relevant tech skills and certifications, opening doors to remote jobs with international companies. The focus on cloud-native skills ensures participants are ready to meet the evolving needs of the tech industry. This partnership is not just about training; it’s about empowering Africans with the tools to compete and succeed on the world stage. Don’t miss this chance to upskill and take your tech career to the next level.

This partnership between Andela and CNCF represents a significant step toward empowering African developers with the skills needed to thrive in the global tech industry. By providing free access to world-class training and certifications, the initiative opens doors to new opportunities, positioning participants for success in an increasingly digital world. For Nigerian tech professionals, this is a chance to gain in-demand cloud-native skills, compete on a global scale, and secure rewarding careers. As Africa’s tech ecosystem continues to grow, initiatives like this pave the way for a brighter future, where talent meets opportunity.
