Hookup Culture: Ayo Adesanya Warns Young Girls About Its Dangers

Nollywood Actress, Ayo Adesanya

Popular Nollywood actress Ayo Adesanya has shared valuable advice for young girls, especially during the festive season, cautioning them against the allure of quick money through hookup culture. In an interview with Saturday Beats, she emphasized the need for caution, prayer, and discernment.

The Dangers of Quick Money

Adesanya highlighted how the pursuit of fast cash often comes with hidden dangers. “Young girls need to know that there is no easy money out there. With the kind of economic meltdown in the world, one can barely give you anything for free. To those engaging in hookups for fast cash, just know that if he is not collecting your destiny, he is grooming you for something,” she stated. She further advised young girls to tread carefully and avoid being misled by unrealistic portrayals on social media. “Many of what you see online is fake,” she warned.

Parents and Mentors Must Step Up

Adesanya pointed out that the lack of proper parental guidance has contributed to the rise of harmful trends. “Many of us who ought to be mentors for children have taught them terrible things. It is not everything that your parents will teach you, but they should guide you,” she said. This advice underscores the responsibility of parents and guardians to instill strong values in their children. For NGOs focusing on youth empowerment, this message can be a tool for promoting mentorship programs that help young people make better life choices.

Challenges in the Film Industry

The actress also lamented the decline in reliable streaming platforms, which has limited opportunities for filmmakers. She urged for the development of indigenous platforms to support Nigeria’s creative industry. “I believe people would put their heads together and come up with an indigenous streaming platform that will be beneficial to all,” she added.

Reflections and Gratitude

Reflecting on the year, Adesanya expressed gratitude for her career milestones and her venture into challenging roles. “I tried a new character recently when I played a security officer. It was very challenging but enjoyable,” she said, adding that she looks forward to releasing new projects next year.

Ayo Adesanya’s insights are a call for Nigerian youths to make informed decisions and avoid risky ventures. Her advice also challenges mentors, parents, and stakeholders to create supportive environments that empower young people and strengthen industries like Nollywood. It’s essential to tread cautiously and stay prayerful,” she emphasized, encouraging a blend of wisdom, patience, and self-awareness for a brighter future.
