Academic Excellence and Student Loan Advocacy

Highlighting the institution’s academic achievements, the Vice Chancellor noted that JABU has excelled in teaching and research, with its graduates thriving in various disciplines.

Prof. Fakolujo also commented on the Federal Government’s new student loan scheme, urging that it be extended to students of private universities. He emphasized fairness, pointing out that private university students are also Nigerian citizens entitled to equal opportunities.

Nigerian students in private universities have the same citizenship rights as those in public universities,” Fakolujo stated. “These loans are debts the students will repay, not the universities. It’s only fair for private university students to access these loans. He proposed setting a loan cap, such as N500,000 or N1 million, to accommodate varying tuition fees across institutions.

As part of the convocation ceremony, the university will confer honorary degrees on notable Nigerians, including Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the President.

JABU’s 2023/2024 convocation highlights the institution’s dedication to academic excellence and advocacy for equal educational opportunities. The event is a celebration of student achievements and a call for inclusive policies to benefit all Nigerian students.
