JAMB Begins Accreditation for 2025 UTME CBT Centres

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has started the process of accrediting Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This move aims to ensure that all centres meet the necessary standards for a seamless examination process.

Accreditation Steps for Centres

Existing Centres: Centres that were accredited and participated in the 2024 UTME without issues need to express their interest through the Centre Management System (CMS) Portal. These centres should ensure they meet all continuing requirements to maintain their accreditation status.

New Centres: Prospective CBT centres must first review the guidelines at JAMB’s official requirements page. These centres should then formally notify JAMB of their intention to participate by sending a letter addressed to the Registrar. The notification should be submitted through the Zonal Director or State Coordinator in the centre’s state. After registration, JAMB’s zonal or state offices will create CMS accounts for these new centres.

Mandatory Autobot/Autotest and Physical Visits

JAMB mandates all participating centres to complete an Autobot/Autotest as part of the accreditation process. This automated test ensures that the centre’s technical infrastructure is capable of handling the UTME requirements. The date for this test will be provided by JAMB. Only centres that pass this phase will be eligible for a physical accreditation visit by JAMB’s team, set for December 2024. Centres that do not perform satisfactorily on the Autobot/Autotest will not receive a second visit or further consideration for participation.

Accreditation ensures that only well-prepared and fully equipped centres can facilitate the UTME. As stated by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, ‘Only centres that complete the Autobot/Autotest and meet the necessary criteria will be eligible for Wa physical visit.’ This move guarantees a seamless and fair examination process for candidates.

Final Approval

Centres that meet all technical and operational standards during both the Autobot/Autotest and physical visit will be approved by JAMB and included in the list of registered CBT centres for the 2025 UTME. This ensures students have access to reliable and certified centres for their exams.

JAMB’s detailed accreditation process for CBT centres ensures that only the most prepared and compliant facilities are approved to handle the 2025 UTME. By requiring the completion of both the Autobot/Autotest and a subsequent physical inspection, JAMB maintains high standards for examination centres. This helps guarantee a fair, efficient, and well-managed UTME experience for all candidates. Centres that wish to remain competitive and qualified must stay vigilant and adhere strictly to JAMB’s requirements to secure their participation.
