Supporting Students’ Education

Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo has approved funding of N600 million to cover WAEC fees for over 18,000 students in public secondary schools. This initiative, continued from his predecessor’s efforts, relieves parents of financial burdens while promoting education access for all. By covering these fees, the government ensures that more students can complete their education, thereby improving school enrollment and reducing dropout rates.

Aiding Parents and Guardians

The government’s support helps parents and guardians who struggle to fund their children’s education. With education fees covered, parents are encouraged to send their children to public schools, knowing the state will handle these essential costs. This initiative has led to a significant increase in public school enrollment, demonstrating how reducing financial barriers supports educational advancement.

When financial barriers are removed, every child has a fair chance to learn and thrive.

Addressing Out-of-School Children

This policy directly addresses the issue of out-of-school children in Kogi State by making it easier for families to keep their children enrolled. The government’s commitment to paying for both WAEC and other exams, like JAMB and NABTEB, makes completing secondary education more attainable for all. This focus on full educational access supports long-term personal growth and contributes to the region’s socioeconomic improvement.
