FG Launches CNG E-Portal to Empower Youths in Transport Sector

The Federal Government has launched a new initiative to empower Nigerian youths in the commercial transport sector with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tricycles. This move is part of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PiCNG), aimed at reducing transportation costs, creating jobs, and promoting clean energy.

CNG E-Portal for Youths

The Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, announced the launch of an e-portal that will allow youths across Nigeria to register for the CNG-powered tricycle programme. The portal, www.youthcng.ng or www.pci.gov.ng/tricycle, provides a transparent platform where young Nigerians can sign up to participate in the initiative, whether they are already involved in transportation or want to join the sector. This programme is part of President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to ensure equal opportunities for all Nigerians, regardless of their background, by making government initiatives easily accessible to everyone.

Benefits of the CNG Initiative

The PiCNG programme, which began with the distribution of 2,000 CNG-powered tricycles, is designed to lower transportation costs while creating employment for the youth. It also promotes the use of clean fuel, which is better for the environment compared to traditional petrol or diesel. Michael Oluwagbemi, the Project Director of the initiative, emphasized that CNG is not only more environmentally friendly but also a crucial step towards reducing fuel subsidies that have long drained Nigeria’s resources. The CNG-powered tricycles provide a sustainable solution that benefits both the youth and the nation.

The launch of the CNG-powered tricycle initiative is not just a handout to the youth but a crucial step towards building a cleaner environment, reducing transportation costs, and promoting job creation,” said Michael Oluwagbemi, Project Director of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PiCNG). “By embracing CNG, we are saving the nation from the cost of petrol subsidies while ensuring a sustainable future for our youth.

Encouraging Youth Participation

The government is urging all interested youth, especially those in the transport sector, to take advantage of this opportunity. The programme is not just a financial handout but a meaningful step towards empowering the younger generation and ensuring a cleaner, more sustainable future for Nigeria. By embracing this initiative, the youth can contribute to building a better nation while securing their financial future through job creation in the transport sector.

In conclusion, the launch of the CNG e-portal and tricycle distribution by the Federal Government marks a significant step in empowering Nigerian youth, particularly in the transport sector. By promoting clean energy, reducing transportation costs, and creating job opportunities, the initiative reflects a forward-thinking approach to addressing key economic and environmental challenges. The government’s commitment to transparency and inclusiveness ensures that all Nigerian youth, regardless of their background, can participate in this transformative programme, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and prosperous future for the country.
