BUA Foods Expands to Boost Nigeria’s Food Security

BUA Foods Plc has announced plans to expand its pasta production facility by partnering with FAVA, an Italian company known for making pasta equipment. This move aims to enhance food security in Nigeria. 

Increasing Production Capacity 
Chairman of BUA Foods, Abdul Samad Rabiu, shared that the expansion is part of their strategy to address food shortages in the country. The project will increase the company’s pasta production capacity by 400,000 tonnes, bringing the total to 900,000 tonnes per year. Rabiu emphasized that the expansion will allow BUA Foods to produce more pasta and develop new products. This growth is expected to help tackle ongoing food supply issues in Nigeria. He also mentioned that the company is committed to maintaining high product quality while meeting the increasing demand for pasta. 

Boosting Grain Storage 
In addition to increasing production, the company is adding 100,000 tonnes of grain storage. This will ensure a steady supply of raw materials for pasta production and help BUA Foods continue providing food solutions in Nigeria. 

Our manufacturing capacity expansion will continue to enable us to extend the boundaries of what we can produce and deliver, supporting our nation’s development by providing solutions to ongoing food shortages,” said Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Foods. 

Partnership for Packaging 
To support this expansion, BUA Foods has also signed an agreement with Martini, another Italian company, to provide packaging equipment. This ensures that their products are packaged efficiently as they scale up production. With these efforts, BUA Foods aims to contribute significantly to improving food security in the country.
