Man Arrested for Tying Lover in Abuja Hotel Over Alleged Ritual Attempt

A yet-to-be-identified man was arrested after allegedly tying up his lover’s hands and legs in a hotel room located in Wuse, Abuja. The man was accused of attempting to use her for ritual purposes before being caught by concerned individuals in the area. 

Incident at Top View Hotel 

The unsettling event occurred on September 17, 2024, at Top View Hotel in the Wuse area of Abuja. According to eyewitnesses, the man had tied his lover in a compromising position, sparking immediate suspicion among bystanders. When confronted, the man was accused of planning to use the woman for money rituals, a claim that drew outrage from onlookers. He was ordered to untie the woman, as captured in a video that circulated widely on social media. 

Arrest and Response 

The suspect was arrested by operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), who were alerted to the scene. However, the arrest has since drawn public attention, with many calling for justice and further investigation into the incident. Reacting to the video and incident, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command confirmed awareness of the situation. Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that the NSCDC had taken the suspect into custody but had yet to transfer him to the police for further investigation. Adeh added that the FCT Police Command was ready to begin a “diligent and discreet investigation” as soon as the NSCDC hands over the case to them.

Awaiting Full Investigation 

Although the arrest has been made, the case is far from resolved. The FCT Police Command awaits the handover of both the suspect and the victim to commence their investigation. The authorities are expected to delve into the motivations behind the act and uncover the true nature of the crime. This disturbing case has highlighted ongoing concerns about ritual-related crimes in Nigeria, with many urging law enforcements to intensify efforts in curbing such practices.
