FG and UK Partner to Launch Centralized e-Learning Platform for Nigerian Schools

The Federal Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the UK’s Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE) program, has introduced a centralized e-learning platform called eLearn. This platform is designed to transform education in Nigeria by providing easy access to high-quality digital learning resources. 

What is the eLearn Platform? 

eLearn offers educational materials such as interactive exercises, videos, and texts to both students and teachers. It caters to learners from primary school up to university level, helping teachers with professional training and offering students valuable learning content. This initiative also aims to promote digital inclusion and ensure that everyone can access learning materials, no matter where they are in the country. 

Government’s Commitment to Digital Education 

During a two-day workshop in Abuja, the Minister of Education, represented by Gbenga Odewale, emphasized the government’s dedication to integrating technology into the education sector. He mentioned that the Ministry, along with PLANE, had developed a repository to store all available e-learning resources. This effort is part of a broader strategy to improve education standards across Nigeria. We encourage teachers, students, and parents to take advantage of this platform to enhance learning in the country,” the Minister’s representative said.

The eLearn platform will help teachers, students, and parents access quality educational resources and improve the standard of education across Nigeria,” said Gbenga Odewale, speaking on behalf of the Minister of Education at the eLearn platform launch. 

Addressing the Digital Divide 

Ian Attfield, Senior Education Adviser at the British High Commission, stressed the importance of making the platform accessible to everyone, especially in rural areas and for people with disabilities. He pointed out that women and girls often have less access to digital tools than men, and special efforts must be made to prevent any group from being left behind. 

The launch of eLearn is expected to significantly improve education in Nigeria by providing equal access to quality learning materials for all students and teachers nationwide. With a focus on inclusivity, the platform aims to ensure that everyone, regardless of location or ability, can benefit from this new digital learning opportunity.
