FUNAAB Student Kidnapped in Lagos Murdered by Abductor

A tragic incident has struck the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), as a 300-level student, Christiana Idowu, was reportedly kidnapped and murdered by her abductor. The incident occurred while she was traveling between Ikorodu and Yaba in Lagos State. 

Abduction and Ransom Demand 

Christiana was abducted on her way from Itaoluwo, Ikorodu, to the University of Lagos, Yaba, where she was undergoing industrial training. Her family became worried when she became unreachable. Soon after, her kidnappers contacted them using her phone, demanding a ransom of N3 million for her release. After much negotiation, the kidnappers agreed to reduce the ransom to N350,000. The family promptly paid the amount into an account provided by the abductors, but despite this, Christiana was not released. 

Investigation and Tracking of Abductor 

Intelligence operatives began investigating the case on August 26, tracking the account used to receive the ransom. By August 29, they uncovered crucial details, including the BVN of the account holder, who had withdrawn N100,000 from a masked betting account before the account was frozen. Further investigation revealed that the suspected abductor had a personal connection to Christiana, evidenced by their mutual activity on social media platforms like Instagram. 

This tragic incident highlights the devastating impact of betrayal and underscores the urgent need for greater security and vigilance in our communities. Christiana’s death is not just a loss for her family but a profound wake-up call for society to address the growing threat of kidnappings and violence.

The Arrest of the Suspect 

The operatives traced the suspect to a location in Ikorodu, Lagos, where Christiana’s family also resides. With this information, the operatives tracked the suspect’s cell phone activity, which eventually led them to his parents’ house. The investigation continues as authorities work to bring justice for Christiana’s untimely death. 

Christiana’s murder is a devastating reminder of the dangers lurking in society. While her family and friends mourn her loss, the public is calling for swift justice and increased security measures to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
